Every word processor opens with the same row of icons across the top. Bold, italic, underline, font size, font color, alignment, bullet, numbered list, link. Twenty-something buttons, all fighting for your attention before you’ve typed a word.
We removed every one of them.
In sweetdocs, the menu lives inside your cursor. Press / and the slash menu opens where you’re typing. Headings, lists, code blocks, swatches, embeds, all reachable in three keystrokes. The bubble toolbar appears when you select text, with bold and italic right where you’d reach. Nothing else gets pinned to the chrome.
Removing the toolbar wasn’t a minimalism flex. It was about putting controls where your attention already is, instead of a fixed row two inches above your work. Word kept the toolbar because Word was designed to print, and printing was about formatting. Documents now live as links and Markdown. Formatting is a side effect, not the point.
We replaced twenty buttons with one keystroke. Every writer who tries it asks why every editor doesn’t work this way.
